10 Steps to Take at the Scene of an Auto Accident

  1. Stop immediately.
  2. Do not block road traffic.
  3. Call 911 or ask someone at the scene to call 911.
  4. Assist the injured.
  5. Secure names and phone numbers of driver(s) and witnesses.
  6. Write down insurance information for those involved in the accident.
  7. Write down make, model, and license number of all vehicles involved.
  8. Never accept claim settlement at the scene of the accident.
  9. Remain calm and courteous.
  10. Notify insurance agent as quickly as possible.
