When our Accounting and Operations Manager, Mindy Dufek, initially worked with Career Connections about hiring someone from LifeQuest in Mitchell for our credit card department, she was cautious, but optimistic. "When we started working with Career Connections almost four years ago, we didn't know how things would go, or for how long," said Dufek. "Looking back today, we can say it was a great decision."
Career Connections, an employment resource center, is owned and operated by LifeQuest. It's primary mission is to help people with disabilities obtain employment in the community.
CorTrust hired Jenny Jackson in May of 2014. Her primary job duties involve document imaging for our credit card department in Mitchell, SD. "When Jenny joined our team, we were in the initial stages of developing an internal process to archive old and current correspondence for our cardholders," said Dufek. "Jenny has been an instrumental part of scanning and archiving thousands of documents, so we can eliminate paper copies and move everything to electronic files."
"I really like it," said Jackson, who comes in three days per week. "It's a fun job. It wasn't long before I felt comfortable at work and performing tasks."
"In the last four years, our relationship with Career Connections has been an important part of the work we do," continued Dufek. "We have a great working relationship with Jenny and Career Connections that involves regular communication and job coaching to help Jenny grow as an employee. She really is a valuable asset to our team, and comes in every day with a smile on her face and a willingness to help wherever needed."
